It is sheer arrogance on the part of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to think that the fate of Nigerians is tied to his presidency.

This is the response of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, to Atiku’s refusal to accept the result of the 2019 presidential election.

President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC was declared the winner of the election in a declaration made by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on Wednesday.

Atiku has since rejected the result saying the election that produced it was fraught with anomalies.

He also threatened to challenge the results in court.

But speaking with journalists at the secretariat of the APC in Abuja on Thursday, Oshiomhole said it was wrong for Atiku to say that the presidential election was the worst.

He said it was obvious that Atiku was never destined to be Nigeria’s president.

His words: “It borders on arrogance that our future is tied on his presidency. Atiku is destined never to be president of Nigeria.

“Leadership is about character. Atiku’s desperation is so obvious, so desperate that in 2003, he challenged his own boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo not to do a second term.”

Oshiomhole described the outcome of the presidential election as a vote for integrity by Nigerians.

He also accused the PDP of rigging the election in some states like Akwa Ibom and some other states.

According to him, “we have petition that we have written to INEC – how we were rigged out in Akwa Ibom State and it is interesting that it is PDP that is complaining about the outcome of election in Akwa Ibom State.”

“How do you explain that INEC cancelled so many units not only in Akwa Ibom State, so many other states in order to be able to declare PDP candidates as winners. That is how Senator Akpabio was rigged out in Akwa Ibom State,” he added.
