The suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Walter Onnoghen, has submitted his letter of resignation.
His resignation came hours after the National Judicial Council, NJC, which probed cases of improper conduct against him submitted its recommendation to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Although it was not made public, it was gathered that the council recommended compulsory retirement of Onnoghen.
The recommendation, it was gathered, was based on the conclusion that he had no moral right to continue in his position judging by the numerous allegations of improper conduct against him.
It would be recalled that he is facing trial over alleged non-declaration of assets.
His letter of resignation was said to be submitted to the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari.
