Salami gave the assurance on Thursday when he hosted the new State Coordinator, NYSC, Ondo State, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani, in his office.

“I want to assure the new State Coordinator and the NYSC management in the Sunshine State that our duty at ensuring protection of lives and properties is sacrosanct and we remain on top of security situation across the nooks and crannies of the state.
“It is an incontrovertible fact that the corps members are our children who are from all the parts of the country and the onus lies on us to protect them because they are rendering selfless service to the communities and the nation at large,” Salami said.
The Police chief told the new coordinator that NYSC since its establishment had been complementing all agencies and institutions of government at all levels to develop the country.
He charged Ani to build on the cordial relationship existing between his command and the scheme.
“Madam, you are taking over from a passionate outgoing State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Akpabio, who will call even in the dead of the night to request for protection whenever some corps members are facing some security challenges.
“Because of her good inter personal relationship, we are always ready to attend to her requests anytime and I know you will do well also because of your background as Public Relations Officer,” he concluded.
Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani, thanked the Commissioner of Police for being passionate about the security of corps members serving in the state and the welfare of those serving with the command.
She said her visit was to request for the sustenance of the existing synergy as what she met on ground when she assumed duties few days back showed that the Police Command was indeed a partner in progress with the NYSC in the state.
“The Commissioner of Police Sir, my predecessor, Mrs. Grace Akpabio, has spoken glowingly about you and your command most especially the roles of your officers and men during the October 2020 gubernatorial election in the state. It shows that NYSC and corps members are in safe hands,” she said.
The NYSC boss pleaded with the security chief to encourage his officers and men to sustain the tempo of the relationship by remaining committed to the programmes and activities of the scheme.
She thanked him for always availing the scheme the services of dedicated personnel during orientation courses and hinted that she may still call on him to solicit for his support for the various ongoing projects at the camp.
