The National Consultative Forum, NCFront, has described as peaceful and credible, the Ondo State governorship election held on Saturday.

In the interim report based on the submissions of its Election Observation Mission, the group said there were no major hitches resulting from the election.

The interim report was signed by Issa Aremu, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, Barr Ernest Ejiro Ofoye, Princess Adesola Ogunleye, and Lady Olabisi Adu.

The group described the electoral process as “peaceful and credible to a large extent.”

The report reads:

“Being An Interim Statement of NCFront Observation Mission on the Ondo Decides 2020 held on Saturday, 10th October, 2020

“Coalition of Observers under the broad auspices of the National Consultative Front, NCFront jointly being led by Former Speaker of Nigeria Ghali Umar Na’aba and Former Presidential Candidate, Pat Utomi has released its interim report based on the Observations received from its Cadres deployed to the field to cover the Ondo 2020 Governorship Elections which held today, Saturday, 10th October, 2020

“In a terse preliminary report released at the end of voting and  jointly signed by leaders of the delegation of NCFront INEC accredited Observers in Ondo State, who include, Comrade Issa Aremu, Dr Tanko Yunusa, Barr Ernest Ejiro Ofoye, Princess Adesola Ogunleye, Lady Olabisi Adu, NCFront Elections Observation Mission in Ondo describes the voting process as surprisingly peaceful and without major hitches outside the unfortunate mishap, which happened to the Boat conveying INEC Elections materials to Ilaje Riverine Area of Ondo State and minor skirmishes here and there, therefore adjudging the process as peaceful and credible to a large extent

“However, while reeling out some of the minuses and hicups observed so far in the course of voting, the NCFront Observation Mission reveals it was disturbed by some cases of failure of card readers recorded during the Elections, just  as it was perturbed by increased incidence of non compliance to social and physical distancing during the Ondo Decides 2020 coming on the heels of Edo Decides 2020, held last month.

“In conclusion, the Front, which stormed Ondo with a firm resolve to be vigilant about cases of electoral violence and vote buying and selling says the just concluded voting exercise has been an improvement on the Edo 2020 electoral process and commended INEC and other key stakeholders for ensuring substantial peace and credibility in the Ondo 2020, thereby admonishing political actors and supporters to shun any act capable of discrediting and derailing the final outcome of the Elections.
