Ondo: Commotion as lawmakers remove Speaker, deputy

There was commotion at the Ondo State House of Assembly on Friday, following the removal of the Speaker, Bamidele Oloyelogun, and his Deputy, Iroju Ogundeji.

They were both replaced by Olamide George as the new Speaker and Abimbola Fajolu, Deputy Speaker.

George is from Akure North while Fajolu represents Ile Oluji/Okeigbo constituency.

However, shortly after the removal of the Speaker and his deputy at the session which turned rowdy, some persons believed to be members of the Ondo Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, stormed the House of Assembly and unleashed terror.

The invaders who came with dangerous weapons including sticks and stones went violent as they attacked some of the lawmakers and damaged properties including vehicles.

It took the intervention of the police to restore peace.
