Omo-Agege’s appointment of top journalists is crave for excellence -NUJ

The appointment of Yomi Odunuga and Lara Owoeye-Wise as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, and Special Assistant on Electronic/New Media, respectively, is a reflection of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s crave for excellence.

This is the position of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ.

Omo-Agege is the Deputy Senate President.

Odunuga and Owoeye-Wise are accomplished journalists.

The council chairman and leader of delegation, Emmanuel Ogbeche, stated the position of the NUJ during a congratulatory visit to the media office of the Deputy Senate President at the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Monday.

He said: “It is gratifying that the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has deemed it fit to appoint as his senior media aides, Mr Yomi Odunuga, and Ms. Lara Owoeye-Wise.

“You are professional and accomplished journalists who represent the best of our profession and we have no doubt that you will acquit yourselves well in your new offices.

“Your appointment is a clear indication that the Deputy President of Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, wants a concise and honest reflection of what he does and stands for in the course of his stewardship to his constituency, the Senate and the country.”

Responding, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy Senate President, Yomi Odunuga, gave the assurance that the media office would be run professionally with open doors.

He also appealed to fellow journalists to remain objective and ensure balance in their reportage of the legislative arm of government.
