The Olukare of Ikareland, Ondo State, Oba Akadiri Momoh, has applauded the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, management in the state for the  transformation of the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.

The royal father gave the commendation when the Ondo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Akpabio, paid a courtesy visit to him at his palace.

“I am extremely happy with the manner and speed with which the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp has witnessed tremendous transformation in the last two years.

“I am particularly happy with you, the State Coordinator for your resilience, uncommon ingenuity and doggedness which has seen the camp shedding the toga of ancient structures to modern edifice.

“I am not unaware that the state government under the people’s governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN) has invested massively in the camp to give it a face lift but your complementary effort is outstanding.

“Without being immodest, your zeal at rallying support for the Camp Clinic is legendary and I want to personally acknowledge your immense contributions which today have indeed confirmed that you are a detribalised Nigerian and a mother of the nation.

“You have etched your name in gold as one of the few citizens of the country who believes religiously in the project called Nigeria and you have been working assiduously to further unite the nation by breaking all barriers and this is evident in your modest achievements as the Coordinator in the last two years”.

Responding, Akpabio said that she was fulfilled to enjoy the massive support and unhindered access to the palace of the Olukare.

Akpabio said that she was particularly happy that whenever occasion demanded that she visited the monarch, the king and his wife, were eagerly looking forward to seeing her.

She said she had come to brief the royal father and update the palace on the Camp Clinic project.

The king, it would be recalled, was the first person to support the project financially.

“Kabiyesi, I have come again to specifically appreciate your unbridled love for the youths of this country. This you have demonstrated by being the first among equals to support the lofty idea of the corps members to have a standard and modern clinic at the camp.

“Your majesty sir, you have mobilised financial aid and material support for this gigantic project but like Oliver Twist, I have come to let you know that the project has reached roofing stage and we need more support from well to do personalities and philanthropists in your domain and the state at large.

“Our camp has tremendously been enjoying the unflinching support of both the Olukare and Owa-Ale stools and I want to tell the whole world that things can still get better if your subjects will continue to complement your favourable disposition to NYSC in the state.”

The NYSC boss used the visit to appeal to the royal father to encourage the local vigilance groups within the ancient town to continue to protect the lives and properties of all the corps members observing the mandatory national service within the domain.

The elated royal father on hearing about the progress made so far in the Camp Clinic, promised to mobilise support for the project.

The monarch equally said that he would discuss the security and safety of the corps members posted to the town with Olukare in Council and relevant security agencies in the Akoko Division of the state.
