Two suspected fake soldiers have been arrested in Shagamu area of Ogun State for causing pandemonium and disrupting commercial activities.
The suspects who were arrested on Tuesday are 27 years old Joseph Uzor and 27 years old Obadeyi Quadr.
According to the spokesman of the police in Ogun State, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, their arrest followed a distress call received by the Divisional Police Office of Sakura Division, Dahunsi Ronald, about the activities of the suspected fake soldiers.
The suspects said to be in Nigerian Army camouflage uniform were said to have suddenly alighted from a Toyota Sienna car at Sabo Market, Shagamu, and caused pandemonium.
They were said to have beaten up an elderly market woman and disrupted commercial activities in the market.
While their activities were going on, a serving soldier arrived the scene and demanded the identity of the suspected fake soldiers.
But instead of identifying themselves, they started boarding commercial motorcycles to escape from the scene hence the distress call to the police.
Following the information, DPO of Sakura Division quickly led his patrol team to the scene where two of the suspects were arrested with the help of members of the public.
The angry mob descended on them and attempted to hijack the suspects but were quickly whisked away from the scene by the police.
Recovered from the suspects are two pairs of Army camouflage uniform, two pairs of black boots, one camouflage vest, one camouflage faz cap, one Samsung phone and the sum of N10,800.
The police said the men were strongly suspected to be part of the robbery syndicate who operate in military outfit along Shagamu Benin Expressway some of who were recently apprehended.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.
He equally directed an indepth investigation into their past activities before arraigning them before a court of competent jurisdiction.
