Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers said to be going for a robbery operation.
They were arrested on Tuesday at about 9.30 p.m.
According to the spokesman of the police command, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects are 20 years old Rasheed Ayinde and 33 years old Matthew Oladipupo.
He said they were arrested when the Divisional Police Officer of Onipanu Division, CSP Bamidele Job, was on routine patrol of his area with his men.
Oyeyemi said the robbers were sighted on a motorcycle.
According to him, upon sighting the policemen, they made an attempt to make a u turn, but were stopped by the team who suspected their movements.
A search, he said, was there and then conducted on them and one locally made pistol and one live cartridge as well as assorted charms were recovered from them.
On interrogation, they confessed being on their way to carry out robbery operation. The duo claimed to be living in Abeokuta, but operate in Onipanu and Atan Ota area of Ogun State.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.
