Communities across the country, Ogun State in particular, will grow tremendously if its leaders are selfless, focused and embark on projects that will make life more meaningful to the people.
The chairman of Ijoko Lemode Community Development Committee, CDC, Alhaji Waheed Oliyide, made this remark on Saturday at the inauguration of the new executive members of Ajumoni Community Estate Development Association, Ijoko-Lemode, Ogun State.
Mr. Samson Amudipe is the new chairman.
He took over from Mr. Sakirudeen Adebayo, whose tenure has just expired.
At the inauguration held along with those of other CDA’s at Ijoko Lemode, Oliyide stated that the community leaders should have the interest of the people at heart and do their best.
According to him, they should make positive impact in their communities so that they would be remembered for their achievements.
He warned that leading a community is a task that would come with insults, but that they should be undaunted.
He said they must be ready to overcome any obstable they might encounter.
He stressed the need for accountability, pointing out that they should be transparent.
He also spoke about the Ijoko-Lemode roads that had become impassable.
He said the community leaders should work had to ensure that they got the support of the state government to solve the problem among others confronting the area.
