Ijoko and Lemode are two areas in Ifo local government area of Ogun State.
The two areas are so close that they are often considered as one, hence, Ijoko-Lemode.
For many years, residents of the areas have suffered untold hardship in view of the total collapse of the roads which started under the government of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, through the period of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s administration and now, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
During Amosun’s tenure which saw the building of bridges, there were endless promises to make good roads.
The promises remained unfulfilled.
With the coming of Governor Dapo Abiodun, many had hoped that the situation would change for the better, but it has been for the worst, despite his campaign promises.
Over two years into his administration, nothing has happened.
The roads have collapsed totally, cutting off the area from both Lagos and other parts of Ogun State.
Economic activities have become non-existent and life has become unbearable.
Many landlords and tenants have abandoned the area for other places.
To say that the presence of the government has not been felt at all in the areas is an understatement.
It is a case of areas totally abandoned, with their people obviously helpless and dejected.
Like other previous administration, the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration is apparently unperturbed by the deplorable state of the roads in the areas and beyond.
Below are images of just few of the bad roads from Ijoko (Ogba Iyo) to Abule (Lemode).
A journey of less than ten minutes now endures for about 45 minutes.
Please, fasten your seat belt (as it would be dangerous not to do so) and join us in the horrible ride through the images below:
