Filling of the potholes

Concerned members of the public, particularly, residents of Alagbole, Akute, Lambe, Oke Aro and Agbado areas of Ifo local government area of Ogun State have condemned the palliative efforts to solve the problems of very bad roads of the area.

Following increasing agitation and threat not to vote for Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State in the coming election as a result of his alleged insensitivity to the agony of the people of the area, he had a few days ago visited Sango area promising to bring about a “verifiable result” within three weeks.

In an apparent effort to fulfill his promise boulders are being deposited in some portions of the bad roads to fill the potholes.

However, mixed reactions have trailed the efforts with many describing the palliative measure as unacceptable and capable of rather causing harm to vehicles.

The reactions are in response to the post on the facebook wall of top journalist, Mr. Festus Akanbi, who wrote: “This is what Eleyi of Ogun State has directed that they should do in our area (Alagbole, Akute, Lambe, Oke-Aro, Agbado)…

“Reject this fraud. This is unacceptable. He said nothing all through the time there was no protest. It was the same way OGD tried to con us. He dey disguise.”

The reactions to his post read:

H.E.Dapo Abiodun has taken residents of IFO LGA for fools. Please we should use our block vote to kick him out of government house Abeokuta. For over 3 years now we have been calling on him to fix the mentioned roads all to no avail. As far as I’m concerned those roads are the most viable roads in Ogun State. If fixed it will attract loads of investors thereby increasing IGR.H.E. does not listen to the people. So, it’s time for us to vote him out come 2023. Enough is enough.

Now you have more stones (boulders) to gathers for the stoning of the ‘asetani’. Gather ye the boulders from these rubbles and be ready to use it.

This will deal with vehicle tyres badly.

I think this is a temporary palliative probably waiting for the rains to subside or processes award of contract. Just thinking aloud though.

Festus Akanbi

He doesn’t have a history of completion. He brought some stones to Akute last year. He abandoned other areas.

He’s trying to con people into voting for him. He’s using the manual written by Daniel…

These hefty rocks he’s brought will not be compacted and will damage tyres/suspension. He should go…. Whoever may succeed him will understand he could be evicted after four years. His indifference, coming after wickedness of Daniel and Amosun entitled him to just one thing: voter brutality. Understanding is what he doesn’t deserve. Next year will be the 24th that no usable amenity has been provided for communities in that area. Not even a PHC. He should just get out.

Dis eleyi style no go work lailai… people must tell him

Gradually. Just manage this first.
