The conferment of the title of Odole Odua on Sir Kessington Adebutu by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, is a confirmation of his (Adebutu’s) sterling qualities.

This is the declaration of the Aare Atunluse of Aworiland and chairman of Mapcotec Nigeria Limited, Dr. Segun Osifeso.

He said Adebutu’s sterling qualities included steadfastness, honesty, exemplary leadership and proven integrity.

Osifeso, who spoke at Ile-Ife, Osun State, said Adebutu was also considered worthy of the honour by the Ooni of Ife in recognition of his philanthropy, positive contributions to human development and promotion of the prestigious Yoruba cultural values and tradition as a descendant of Oduduwa.

He said Adebutu eminently earned the honour of Odole Odua, a high Yoruba chieftaincy title once held by only the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and the late legal luminary, Chief G.O.K. Ajayi, more so that he had come from a very humble background to a life of a successful businessman of national and international repute.

Osifeso stressed that from time immemorial, the Odole Odua title had always commanded high regards and the Ooni must have heavily weighed the options and brought to bear a lot of socio-cultural standings of Dr. Adebutu’s track records.

He described Adebutu as a leader who had successfully utilised his wisdom and talents in the overall interest and welfare of his people, stressing that the Yoruba race would forever remain grateful to him.

Osifeso further explained that the honour was for Adebutu’s uncommon managerial skills and know-how to effectively transform operational challenges into opportunities for the growth and development of the Yoruba race in particular and Nigeria in general.

While sharing in Adebutu’s joy over the conferment, Osifeso noted that he was particularly happy to identify with his landmark achievements, advising that he should, however, continue to hold aloft the banner of excellence, which earned him the special recognition from the Ooni of Ife.
