Odigie-Oyegun at 80: He is administrator par-excellence –Fayemi, Okowa

The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, and his Delta State counterpart, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, have described Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as an administrator of enviable status who has displayed brilliance and integrity over the years.

Odigie-Oyegun is the immediate past national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The two governors eulogized the politician’s virtues on the occasion of his 80th birthday which comes up on Monday (today).

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, to felicitate with him, Fayemi said younger generation of public servants and politicians had a lot to learn from Odigie-Oyegun’s political philosophy which saw leadership strictly as a call to serve others.

“At 80, Chief Oyegun remains an enigma, a reference point in terms of humility, selfless service and integrity in public service. The younger generation of public servants and politicians have a lot to learn from the track record of this great leader, retired Permanent Secretary, former governor and the first national chairman of the APC.

“On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State, I join your well wishers, especially members of our great party, to celebrate you today and wish you all the good things this milestone offers.

“Above all, I wish you good health, undiluted joy and perfect bliss. Our prayer is that God keeps blessing you with wisdom and good health as you continue contribute to the development of our dear country,” Fayemi sad.

In his statement too, Okowa of Delta State commended the octogenarian for his strong convictions and unwavering commitment to humanity, which he said engendered his astonishing accomplishments in life.

Okowa said: “Your Excellency, your life has been that of service to the people of Edo and the nation and we can’t thank you enough for your great deeds.

“As you join the Octogenarian club, we thank you for your kind contributions to nation-building. It is my prayer that the good Lord will continue to uphold and guide you in all your future endeavours.

“As you mark 80 years today, we celebrate you and all that you have accomplished through your humble beginnings to your illustrious career as a top notch civil servant; first civilian Governor of Edo, pro-democracy activist and first elected National Chairman of the APC.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I heartily rejoice with elder statesman and leader par excellence, a perfect gentleman and a man of immense wisdom, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, CON, as he celebrates his 80th birth anniversary on Aug. 12, 2019.

“It is our prayer that God will continue to protect you and grant you good health to render more services to mankind.”
