The Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Professor Simeon Adebayo Bamire, has set up a committee to probe the death of a student of the institution reported to have died of a mob action.
The student was said to have been killed following an allegation that he stole a phone.
The action of the school vice-chancellor was made known by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, in a statement made available to FrontPage.
According to him, the institution had also reported the case to the police and investigation was said to have begun.

Condemning the killing, the university warned students to desist from taking laws into their hands and to report any criminal activities to the authorities for immediate actions.
The action of the mob, according to the university, was a violation of the law of the country and of the institution’s regulations.
The university commiserated with the parents of the deceased, staff and students, and prayed that God would grant the fortitude to bear the loss.
