Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, has issued a condolence message over the death of one of its students, Omotola Akorede Kayode, a Part 3 student in the Department of Microbiology.
Omotola died on Friday when he suddenly slumped while playing football with his colleagues.
“The management hereby commiserates with the parents, family, classmates, colleagues and the entire University Community over this irreparable loss. And may the good Lord grant us all the fortitude to bear the loss,” the university said in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju.
In the condolence message, the university said it regretted to announce the death of the student.
According to it, the student was playing football with his colleagues when he suddenly slumped.
“He was subsequently rushed to the University Health Centre where he was confirmed dead on arrival. All measures to resuscitate him proved abortive,” the university stated.
