The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah, has declared that the essence of the three weeks orientation course is to prepare and toughen the corps members for future challenges.
General Fadah made this declaration in his speech read on his behalf during the swearing-in ceremony monitored at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko in Ondo State.
Represented by the NYSC State Coordinator in Ondo State, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani, the Director General commended the corps members for their patriotic zeal with which they answered the clarion call and charged them to utilise the once-in-a-life opportunity and participate fully in all camp programmes and activities.
The NYSC boss charged them to take advantage of the platform to attain individual feat both during and after the service year.
“As you are aware, one of the objectives of NYSC is the promotion of national unity and integration. Hence, your deployment away from your state of origin and your assemblage here from diverse ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.”
The policy according to the NYSC boss, would not only offer them the opportunity for a broader understanding of the country but also entrench the culture of working together in an atmosphere filled with friendship, peace, harmony and a shared vision of a great and prosperous Nigeria.
Fadah advised the new entrants into the NYSC Hall of Fame to be security conscious at all times and to report any suspicious characters or activities around them to the appropriate authorities.

He reminded the members of the service corps to adhere strictly to established safety measures such as physical distancing, wearing of face mask appropriately at all times, and the use of hand washing facilities provided at strategic locations in the orientation camp.
“You are to equally avail yourselves of the COVID -19 vaccinations that would be administered at camp if you have not done so,” he said.
He equally admonished the corps members to embrace Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, programme with a view to laying solid foundation against poverty and unemployment which has reduced the economic activities to negative indices.
The newly sworn-in Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Ayedun Olusegun Odusola, represented by the Chief Magistrate, Sikiru Babalola, administered the Oath of Allegiance on 1491 prospective corps members made up of 694 males and 797 females who reported for service in Ondo, in a low key event.
