The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani, has reiterated the commitment of the scheme at ensuring that corps members have access to best medical facilities during the service year.
The state coordinator disclosed this when she received a medical equipment, Stadiometer donated by the 2021 Batch ‘C’ (Stream 1) corps medical personnel at the multi million naira Camp Clinic at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.
Ani who was full of appreciation to the corps medical professionals said that the present set of corps members were making her proud by being problem solvers rather than compounding the challenges which were not limited to NYSC.
“I am short of words to describe your magnanimity because your commitment resilience and sacrifice have provoked your thoughts to leave a lasting legacy for those who are coming behind you.
“I am deeply appreciative of your patriotic instinct which has confirmed that the leadership of this country will definitely go to those who are willing to go extra mile in fixing the problems or challenges in the society.”
The state coordinator announced that the premium placed on corps members’ welfare and well-being encouraged the secretariat to embark on the construction of a befitting camp clinic through Public Private Partnership, PPP.
Ani advised the corps medical professionals to continue to have compassion and empathy for their would-be patients with a charge that they should respect everyone they would come in contact with.
In his goodwill message, the camp director, Mr. Babawale Owolabi, admonished the corps medical professionals to be humble and respectful to everyone they would come across during and after the service year.
The camp commandant, Major Stephen Ajakaiye reminded the corps medical professionals to remember the oath they subscribed to in their various professions.
The Head, Camp Clinic Committee, Mrs. Mojisola Alo, said she was overwhelmed by the support she received from corps medical professionals and lauded them for their discipline and dedication.
The resident doctor from Federal Medical Centre, Owo, who is on residency assignment at the Camp Clinic, Dr. Adetula, wanted the corps doctors and other paramedics to continue to work as a team so that success anticipated would be seamless.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Henry Nwaolisa, thanked the management for giving him and his colleagues necessary support to perform their life-saving assignments.
He said that they agreed to complement the management when they discovered that the manual scale measurement was outdated and no longer fashionable in line with best global medical practice.
The Stadiometer according to the corps Chief Nursing Officer is a device, having a vertical scale and a moveable headboard for measuring a person’s height and weight, and determine whether they are proportional or not.
