The Chairperson, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, National Governing Board, Ambassador Fatima Balla Abubakar, has reiterated the commitment of the highest decision making organ of the scheme to provide all-encompasssing support to corps
Abubakar made the reiteration while addressing 2022 Batch ‘C’ (Stream 1) corps members at the NYSC orientation camp in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State.
The chairperson who was impressed with the reception accorded her and other members of the board said that NYSC served as a symbol of a platform annexing the potentials of Nigerian graduates for national development.
“My dear children in national service, I want to appreciate you for allowing yourselves to be mobilised and deployed for national development. The nationalism the scheme is building in you is a necessary ingredient to prepare you to surmount the challenges ahead,” she said.
While highlighting the roles expected of them during the forthcoming general elections, she admonished the corps members to play the game according to the laid down rules and regulations.
“You are carrying the identity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I want to charge you to express the patriotic and nationalistic attributes the National Youth Service Corps has deposited in you. Do not compromise the integrity of the scheme and we shall be there for you always.”

Abubakar advised the corps members to take their security seriously and complement the security architecture all the tiers of government had put in place.
“NYSC has put in place enhanced and well expanded structures to protect you during the service year as it has invested in publications such as Security Tips and Orientation Service Guide which contains the contact of security agencies you can get in touch with anytime you are in distress”.
She appealed to the corps members to see their enlistment in the scheme as a privilege to unite all the constituents that made up the country.
She enjoined members of the service corps to remain good ambassadors of their families and the scheme wherever they were posted for their primary assignment while also urging them to bequeath legacies that would outlive them.
The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani, while welcoming the chairperson, NYSC National Governing Board, appreciated the love she had extended to the Nigerian youths by travelling to various camps across the country to see how they are faring.
The State Coordinator in her brief disclosed the steps she had taken to overcome the shortage of hostel accommodation for both corps members and camp officials.
Ani announced that she built nine self-contained rooms which are moderately furnished for management staff and she had started another building project which will house middle level officers when completed.
She told her visitors that the 1,501 registered corps members were doing well and had embraced the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, programme to secure their future.
The chairperson and other members of the board were entertained with cultural dance that depicted the rich culture of Ondo State while the representative of the SAED class presented gifts to the visitors.
The chairperson, NYSC National Governing Board, extended her generosity to some groups among the wonderful, patriotic and excellent corps members.
