The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, on Thursday on refuted reports of alleged attack on Abuja-Kaduna train by gunmen in the early hours of the day.

In its reaction to the report, NRC’s managing director, Mr Fidet Okhiria, said there was no attack by gunmen.

Rather, he said, some boys “threw a stone” at the train and it affected the window glass of one coach.

Okhiria spoke with News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, just as he stated that NRC’s priority was to ensure safe transportation of all passengers to their destinations.

His words: “This news is not correct. What happened according to the police escorts on the train is that a stone was thrown at the train by some boys, which affected only the window glass of coach SP4.

“Nigerians should not panic as the news of the suspected attack is false and NRC is doing everything possible to ensure safety of passengers.”
