Plateau United Football Club of Jos, on Sunday, clinched the three maximum points in their 2-0 home encounter against Warri Wolves on match Day 28 of the ongoing 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.
Sunday Anthony and Zulkifilu Mohammad of Plateau United scored the two second half goals to seal victory, after a disappointing first half goalless draw at the new International Stadium Jos, along Zaria Road.
Speaking shortly after the match, Plateau United’s Head Coach, Abdu Maikaba, said despite some changes in the squad, the boys played very well because they knew what the team wanted.
He said the changes he made in their starting eleven were necessary, after losing away to Nasarawa United in Lafia last week.
“We won the game which is very important for us. We are going to face Jigawa Golden Stars midweek, Wednesday or Thursday, in the Aiteo Cup, thereafter we are coming to host Enyimba of Aba in the NPFL.
“Winning is very key for us because we are going to stand somewhere in the end and our target is to play the continental tournament next season,” Maikaba stated
On his part, Ortega Deniran, the Head Coach of Warri Wolves, expressed sadness for losing the encounter, but promised to do better in their subsequent matches.
