The Presidency has denied the presence of some Nigerians in Indian prison for overstaying their visas.

The claim is contained in a video trending online.

In a statement issued by Mr. Gabriel Odu of the media unit of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, the Chairman/CEO of the commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, declared that the video was an old one.

According to Dabiri-Erewa, the culprits said to be in Indian prison had since been deported to Nigeria.

The statement reads in part: “A call put to Nigeria’s Deputy Head of Mission in India confirms that all those who over stayed their visas have returned and of note is *DANIEL BABATUNDE AKIMBORE* who is speaking in the video, was the last person who returned to Nigeria on Wednesday, July 17th 2019 as his flight schedule indicates below.

“The Commission therefore urged all those concerned and the general public to disregard the video.”

“I thank you all most sincerely for your interest in the well being of Nigerian Nationals in the Diaspora” Dabiri-Erewa was quoted as saying.

She was said to have reiterated her call to Nigerians to be wary of their travels and countries to go to if need be and when there to be a good ambassadors of the country.
