No COVID-19 case in Nigeria’s correctional centres -Aregbesola

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has described as commendable the lack of coronavirus case in the nation’s correctional centres.

Aregbesola made the remark on Thursday during the briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja.

He explained that the 14 persons said to have contracted the disease in Bauchi were not from any of its correctional centre.

According to him, they were discovered to have coronavirus when they were arrested and brought to be imprisoned.

He said as it was the rule, officials of the correctional centre refused to take them in until they were tested.

It was at that stage, the minister said, the 14 people were discovered to be COVID-19 positive.

He said Nigeria was one of the few countries in the world without a case of COVID-19 in its correctional centres.
