Nigeria’s Tobore Ovuorie shortlisted as finalist in W’Africa Media Awards

Nigerian investigative journalist, Tobore Ovuorie, has emerged as one of the finalists for the West Africa Media Excellence Conference and Awards, WAMECA.

The award is convened by the Media Foundation For West Africa, MFWA, and is holding at the Swiss Spirit Alisa Hotel, Accra, Ghana.

Along with her are other 20 journalists from six other countries.

Ovuorie’s five-part investigative series titled: “How Nigeria ‘Kills’ Children Living With HIV”, all published August 2018 in The Nation newspaper, was shortlisted for the keenly contested Human Reporting Category.

The organisers of the West Africa Media Awards says over 700 journalists from 15 African countries entered competitive stories for the award.

Final winners will be announced Saturday night, October 19, 2019 at the Swiss Spirit Alisa Hotel, Accra, Ghana.
