Nigeria’s Okonjo-Iweala clinches WTO top post

Nigeria’s Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been appointed as the next Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, WTO.

The announcement was made in the WTO verified Twitter account @wto on Monday.

The tweet reads: “Okonjo-Iweala makes history as the first woman and the first African to lead the WTO.”

Her term begins March 1, 2021.
