Niger Delta: Police after kidnappers of five oil workers

The Nigeria Police Force has disclosed that its men are already after the kidnappers of five oil workers in Niger Delta.

The oil workers were kidnapped on Tuesday within by gunmen within the Oil Mining Lease (OML) -55 operated by an indigenous oil company, Belemaoil Producing Limited in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers.

Speaking on the rescue operation embarked upon, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, promised that the workers would be released unconditionally and unhurt.

His words:  “Yes, I can confirm that five seismic workers were kidnapped two days ago. We have intensified efforts to ensure their release and gunboats have been deployed.

“We are working with other sister agencies, especially the Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, to ensure they are released within record time.”

The oil workers are reported to be personnel of Integrated Data Services Limited, IDSL and BGP, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation.

They were said to be on the site of an ongoing seismic operations by Belemaoil when they abducted.
