Guests at the event

A cleric, Pastor Sunday Oyewo, has assured that Nigeria will rise above its current economic challenges.

Oyewo who is the Pastor in charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Mount Zion Cathedral, Bolumole,  Ibadan, said this in his sermon at a church service and thanksgiving to mark the commencement of the National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Oyo State Chapter, Press Week 2022, held at the church.

To achieve this, he tasked Nigerians particularly the masses to continue to pray with faith in God to rescue the nation from the scourge of hunger and insecurity affecting the country.

He stated that “God is your shepherd, you can never suffer as He will always do His best to save His sheep from all  evils.”

The Oyo State chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Comrade Jadesola Ajibola, in her remarks, while expressing gratitude to God for sustaining the association in the last one year despite the economic challenges, noted that it is high time for women to take responsibility in the quest of moving Nigeria forward as a country.

She said: “This is to look back at the last one year and give God the grace to be able to come before Him despite the economic challenges. Also, our women should take up responsibility in the society. As a woman, it is important for us to perform our responsibility as a wife and in our place of work, as a woman we all have responsibility.”

Ajibola, however, urged government at all levels to give more room for women to participate in governance.
