MOCPED: UI matriculates 309, provost says college known for quality

Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, MOCPED, in affiliation with the University of Ibadan, UI, has matriculated 309 students for its 2020/2021 academic session.

This is as the Provost of MOCPED, Associate Professor Nosiru Olajide Onibon, declared that the institution was known for high academic standard, quality teaching, moral uprightness, excellence and discipline.

The provost spoke during the event which was held on Thursday.

It was the fifth of its type.

Onibon, in his speech at the occasion also described the University of Ibadan as an institution known for excellence that had produced dignified and great heroes.

He used the opportunity to congratulate the new vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, and prayed to God for guidance and wisdom to enable him lead the institution to greater height.

According to the Onibon, MOCPED, to which the university is affiliated, had not departed from the enviable culture of excellence, hence the slogan “We are MOCPED, we are Great.”

The provost further stated that MOCPED was known for high academic standard, quality teaching, moral uprightness, excellence and discipline.

He further stated that the college had an ICT centre that was well equipped to cater for relevant needs of students and staff because the unit was equipped to cater for administrative networking and other internet needs of both staff and student.

The provost admonished the 309 new intakes to be morally upright, most especially in the area of their dressing as the college would not tolerate indecent dressing.

He advised the students to be of good conduct, shun examination malpractice and other vices that could put their study in jeopardy.

Professor A. B. Ekanola, represented by the Director, Directorate of Affiliated Institution, Professor M.K. Akinsola, in his speech, implored the new intakes to pay attention to lecture and studies, as well as conduct themselves in the best tradition of the university.

Akinsola urged the new students to be part of the dream for change and a better Nigeria.

Professor Akinsola further encouraged the new intakes to be resolute, focus and hardworking in order to achieve their aim of obtaining qualitative education.
