MOCPED: Nosiru Onibon marks two years in office, lists achievements

An interdenominational thanksgiving service was organised on Thursday for Associate Professor Nosiru Olajide Onibon to mark his two years in office as Provost of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Noforija, Epe, Lagos State.

In his opening remarks during the thanksgiving service , Associate Professor Onibon enumerated his achievements which he said had highly repositioned the college to achieve the aims of its founding fathers.

The achievements, according to the him included the process of clearing backlog of results of students since 2013 to date, the successful fourth convocation ceremony of the college held on August 21, 2019 which was presided over by the Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Waheeb, who represented the Visitor and Proprietor of the college, Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu.

He listed the successful processing of over three thousand certificates of the college graduates, part time, full-time and outreach centres as other achievements of his administration.

The certificates are ready for collection.

He further stated that the college graduated the first batch of 22 students of the of the University of Ibadan affiliated programmes with two at First Class level, started a Professional Diploma in Education and successfully held interview towards resuscitating the outreach centres of the college to begin Degree Sandwich programme.

Onibon also mentioned accessed Tetfund projects which include ongoing building of a storey structure of classrooms and offices with one smart classroom; supply of some educational materials and office equipment and the continuation of stranded Tetfund projects.

The provost also expressed his gratitude to the state governor for the release of N200 million as a bailout which enabled the college to pay part of her debt liabilities.

The liabilities, he said, included gratuity to retirees and deceased persons, on old scheme; payment of 14 years pension arrears for retirees and deceased staffers; part payment of non-remitted tax deductions; payment of 48 months non-remitted pension deductions of the retirees and deceased persons on new pension scheme and payment of two months (making three month) out of the seven months inherited salary arrears owned the staffers.

Nosiru Onibon earlier in the day laid the foundation of cassava proccessing factory.

Onibon assumed office as the Provost on January 2, 2018 and the college successfully held the 25th anniversary on December 19, 2019.
