Air strike

Troops of the Nigerian Military on Wednesday, neutralised eight suspected terrorists and injured 10 others in an air strike across the Lake Chad waterways.

This is contained in a special operational report made available on Wednesday.

The report said the strike was conducted at about 9 a.m., on Wednesday.

It said the Maritime Component, supported by armed unmanned aerial vehicles and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets, carried out the mission against terrorist targets.

According to the report, preliminary battle damage assessment indicated that eight terrorists were neutralised, while 10 others reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The report however, said only aerial assessment was possible because the waterways posed a major obstacle to troops’ access to the target area.

It added that follow-up operations to exploit the success of the strike were ongoing.

The report further said that the general security situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remained satisfactory.
