MAPOLY lecturer, Osho emerges new Registrar of NIOB

A senior lecturer in the Department of Building Technology of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Mrs. Fatimoh Abolore Osho, has emerged as the Registrar of the Nigerian Institute of Building, NIOB.

Osho was earlier this year inducted as a Fellow of the institute after putting in many years of service characterized by focus and dedication.

Osho, a former Head of Department of Building Technology, MAPOLY, was elected Registrar of the professional body during its 49th Annual Builders’ Conference/AGM held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The election was described as the most competitive ever in the history of the institute with the calibre of three candidates involved, at which she garnered 103 votes out of 183 total votes.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Public Relations Officer of MAPOLY, Mr. Yemi Ajibola, stated that the new Registrar holds several fellowship and membership of professional organisations and societies such as the Institute of Policy Management Development (IPMD), Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN, Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria, CORBON amongst many more.

Between 1999 and 2006, Osho served as a part time lecturer at the Building/Quantity Surveying Department of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta and later became a full time lecturer at the Building Technology Department from 2006 till date.

Osho’s journey as a professional builder has been through several positions of the institute such as the Treasurer of Nigeria Institute of Building, NIOB, Ogun State Chapter between 2003 and 2006, Vice Chairman of Nigeria Institute of Building, NIOB, Ogun State Chapter between 2003 and 2006, and served as Chairman of Nigeria Institute of Building, NIOB, Ogun State Chapter between 2012 and 2013, and later as Ex-Officio of Nigeria Institute of Building, NIOB; Ogun State Chapter between 2013 and 2014.

Osho, during her courtesy visit to the Rector’s office, appreciated the management and staff of the polytechnic for their support, as she ascribed her victory to the progress and success of MAPOLY.

Osho promised to be good ambassador of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic as she would put MAPOLY first in all she would do in her assignment.

Meanwhile, the Rector, Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina, on behalf of the Management, Staff and Students congratulated her and further wished her success ahead of the new assignment.

He described her emergence as a honour and plus to the polytechnic while promising her the support of the polytechnic’s management.
