A foremost industrialist and fellow of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Chief Olatunde Ayinla Abudu, has donated an endowment fund of N10 million to the institution.

Abudu made the donation for the school’s project when the management of the polytechnic paid a courtesy visit on advocacy for the support of the institution in his residence in Abeokuta.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Samson Adeola, who led the management team briefed the host of the government’s support to the polytechnic since it was returned to status quo ante in June, 2019.

Dr Odedina said that the importance of the meeting was to reopen relationship with all polytechnic stakeholders in order to bring the institution to its rightful place among the comity of institutions in Nigeria.

The Rector said efforts were ongoing to launch the institution back into prominence in the 2019/2020 admission with the Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB, returning MAPOLY status to its portal and National Board For Technical Education, NBTE.

He assured of the revalidation and accreditation of 44 programmes previously run by the Polytechnic, while new programmes including its first set of Agricultural and land-related courses in its forty years of existence would be introduced.

The institution is also taking advantage of the new Polytechnic Act recently signed by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, that now empowers Polytechnics to partner with other relevant institutions to produce high-level manpower.

In his response, Chief Olatunde Abudu expressed joy for having the management of the Polytechnic on a courtesy visit, recounting his relationship with the institution and his belief in educational development as well as the relevance of MAPOLY in filling the gaps in capacity building and employment generation in Nigeria.

The nonagenarian educationist commended the Management for resolving to turn around the institution with consultation and revalidation of relationship with major stakeholders of the Polytechnic.

The Mayegun of Egbaland, Chief Abudu, therefore promised his unflinching support to corroborate the management’s drive to rebranding the foremost forty years old MAPOLY.
