The importance of alumni to the development of any institution of higher learning cannot be over-emphasised, the Acting Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, has declared.

He said that was because their contributions to the institutions would always go a long way in complementing efforts of the management and the government in enhancing development.

Odedeji made the declaration on Friday when the 1991 class of Mass Communication of the institution (AMACOS 91 set) visited MAPOLY, their alma mater, on the occasion of the 30 years anniversary of leaving school.

The Acting Rector stated that no government could adequately fund any institution because it was usually saddled with different and too much responsibilities.

He said it was in view of that that alumni of institutions needed to play key roles in the development of institutions.

He said although the school had continued to develop over the years, the assistance of alumni was still needed.

He expressed appreciation for the kind gesture of the alumni.

During the occasion, the AMACOS 91 set donated public address systems for the four classes in the Mass Communication department of the institution.

It was the second time the AMACOS 91 set would be donating to the department.

Five years ago, the alumni donated books worth N1.2 million to the department.

Speaking at the occasion on behalf of the AMACOS 91 Set, the Managing Director of Media Stamp Limited, who is the Class Governor, Mr. Feyi Olukoya, said the alumni thanked God for keeping them alive and together 30 years after leaving school.

He said the alumni were proud of the institution and decided to express appreciation.

He pledged that they would continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of the institution.
