One 54 years old man, Segun Mopoderun, has been arrested for killing his neighbour, one 58 years old Oposanwo Gbenga, following an altercation.
The two men are of the same address: 3, Iyanu Oluwopo Street, Off Country, Ogba-Aguda, Agege area of Lagos State.
Mopoderun, on Saturday, allegedly poured hot water on Gbenga who was rushed to hospital for treatment, but later died.
The corpse has been deposited at Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The suspect has been arrested by homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.
Investigation is ongoing and the suspect, it was said, would be charged to court.
Spokesman of the Lagos Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, who made the disclosure also reported the case of a driver who was arrested for causing death through reckless driving.
The statement by the police spokesman reads: “On 13th November 2019, at about 1230hrs, a case of fatal motor accident involving three Toyota cars and a motorcycle at Masha overhead bridge was reported at Surulere.
“Driver of a Black Toyota Camry with registration number Lagos BDG 24 FL named Meshach Baba ‘m’ of no 10, Odogbolu Street, Off Ademola Aguda, Lagos, was coming from National Stadium in top speed inward Masha when he swerved to another lane and hit a Bajaj motorcycle with a rider and his passenger. He also hit two vehicles that were equally coming from Shitta inwards the National Stadium.
“The passenger of the motorcycle died on the spot. Name and address of the passenger are not known yet, indication showed that the deceased might be a painter because of stains of different colours of paints on his clothes.
“The corpse was deposited at Randle General Hospital mortuary, Surulere.
“The damaged vehicles were removed from the road for VIO inspection.
“The driver who caused the accident is arrested.
“Investigation is ongoing, the suspect will be charged to court.”
