One 28 years old Adetayo Razaq of Alladi Ijelu Street, Agunfoye, Ikorodu, has been arrested by the police for defiling an 8 years old girl.
The suspect, a tiler and father of two, was arrested by detectives from the Juvenile Welfare Centre, Ikorodu Police Station.
The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, according to the spokesman of the police command in Lagos State, Bala Elkana, had directed that the case be transferred to Gender Unit, Command Headquarters, Ikeja, for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
Explaining the situation, Elkana said the case of the defilement was reported at Ikorodu Police Station by the father of the girl on Thursday.
He was quoted as alleging that when he returned home he met his 8 years old daughter (name withheld) in pains, complaining of discomfort and stomach ache.
He had left the girl with her two brothers aged 10 and 12.
The man and his wife had separated and living apart.
The police spokesman continued: “On inquiry, she told her father that on 31/03/2020, one Adetayo Razaq ‘m’ 28 years old of Alladi Ijelu Street, Agunfoye, Ikorodu gave her biscuits and took her to his room where he had carnal knowledge of her.
“The survivor was taken to hospital for treatment and forensic examination. The suspect, a tiler and father of two, was arrested by detectives from the Juvenile Welfare Centre, Ikorodu Police Station.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to Gender Unit, Command Headquarters Ikeja for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.”
