The Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of violating the freedom of speech.
He made the allegation against the backdrop of the claim by the party that he was, along with the Minister o Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, mounting pressure on the Supreme Court to upturn the verdict preventing the All Progressives Congress, APC, from participating in the Rivers State election.
APC was excluded from the election following the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that it did not conduct its primaries within the stipulated time.
Malami, who spoke with State House correspondents shortly after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday said the statement by the party was unfounded.
As far as he was concerned, until proven, it remained an allegation.
His words: “Regarding what was leveled against me by PDP, I think it remains an accusation. It has to remain so until proven through a judicial process. But for me I think it is freedom of speech that has been taken too far.”
