Make your stay in camp productive, Kwara gov tells NYSC corps members

The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has charged corps members posted to the state to make their stay at the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, orientation camp fulfilling and productive.

He made the charge on Thursday during the swearing-in of the 2000 corps members posted to the state for the 2020 Batch A Stream I orientation exercise.

The swearing-in took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Yikpata Camp, Edu Local government area of the state.

The governor who was represented by his Special Adviser on Investment , Alhaji Kabir Shagaya, also urged camp officials to make the exercise rewarding.

He stated further that from their stay in camp, corps members should imbibe the spirit of unity and exhibit profound act of discipline and dedication.

The governor who described the state as peaceful also enjoined them to take advantage of the various traditional lectures that would be holding in the camp to learn the way and culture of the people of the state for peaceful coexistence between them and their various host communities.

While inspecting camp facilities, the governor promised to improve on the ongoing developmental process in the camp.

He assured them of the readiness of his administration to further the lot of the scheme in the state.

He commended the new state coordinator of the scheme, Mrs. Francisca Olaleye, describing her as a woman driven by great zeal for development.

Meanwhile the State Coordinator of NYSC Kwara State, Mrs. Olaleye appreciated the state government for the support she said she had enjoyed since she came to the state.

Mrs Olaleye however made a compassionate appeal to the government for the perimeter fencing of the camp, more hostels and restrooms for corps members and the camp officials.

She also appealed to the state government for the payment of stipends to corps members in the public sector, most especial those that are serving in government schools.

The coordinator disclosed that the scheme had taken preventive measures on preventing coronavirus, CONVID 19 by providing sanitizers and special medical personnel on camp.

She, therefore, enjoined corps members to make use of the sanitizers in various strategic points in the camp and report anyone suspected to have unusual sneezing habit on camp.

She added that measures had been taken to sensitise corps members on CONVID 19 and possible preventive ways to avert it.

The oath of allegiance was administered by Justice Hammed Gegele representing the Chief Judge of Kwara State.
