Loyalist College, Canada is set to commence full academic session in Nigeria in September this year.

This brings into operation its agreement with Grace Schools, Gbagada, Lagos to serve as its official representative in Nigeria.

Grace Schools becomes the Nigerian campus for Loyalist College, Ontario, Canada where students are expected to spend the first year of study before proceeding to Canada to complete their education at the main campus.

The Director, International Education, Loyalist College Canada, Mr Jim Whiteway, visited Grace Schools recently for an on the spot assessment of preparedness for the commencement of academic work.

He stated that the partnership with Grace School provided immense opportunities for students to experience the global quality education that Loyalist provided at Grace School.

Whiteway commended Grace School for its strong focus in providing qualitative education which made the college select it as the official representative in Nigeria.

Whiteway said students would be exposed to experiential learning with the aid of case studies and real life experiences.

According to him, the learning opportunities provided by Loyalist College would enable students to gain employment within the first few months after their education.

Whiteway expressed optimism that when the students study, they would make contacts and meet people who would be their prospective employers.

Through this, according to him, students would have actual experience and put their learning into practice.

Whiteway asserted that Loyalist College had installed a system that ensured a strong focus on premium quality education.

He said the only difference was that students would not travel to Canada but spend the first year of study in Nigeria as every opportunity provided in Canada for teaching would also be provided at Grace School.

He concluded that the credentials of Loyalist College were globally acceptable and as a result, the college had sustained a pedigree for quality education for over 50 years of its existence.

The Executive Director, Grace Schools, Mrs. Olatokunbo Edun, said Grace Schools was proud to be associated with Loyalist College and delighted to serve as its representative in Nigeria.

“This partnership provides quality education with affordable fees for parents who want to improve learning experiences for their children. It’s an opportunity for students to achieve their academic dreams,” he said.

Edun said that was the first of its kind between an Ontario college and a Nigerian secondary school.

Under the agreement, graduates of Grace Schools, she said, could earn the first year of a Loyalist Business diploma in Nigeria before transitioning to the College‘s Belleville campus to complete their programme.

For their second year, she said, students would have the option to transfer into the three-year Business Administration –Accounting advanced diploma programme.

Graduates who wish to build on their diploma could earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree in just two additional years through the Business – Accounting – UOIT BCOM Stream programme, or pursue one of several one-year Loyalist post-graduate certificate programmes.
