Lockdown: Beef up security, NAWOJ urges governments

The Oyo state chapter of National Association of Womem Journalists, NAWOJ, has asked the federal and state governments to beef up security across the country in the on going lockdown period.

The association made the call in a statement jointly signed by its chairperson, Comrade Jadesola Ajibola, and Secretary, Comrade Stella Oyebanji.

According to the association , there was the need for the governments to ensure safety of lives and property of Nigerians considering the upsurge in the cases of armed robbery since the commencement of the lockdown

“The Oyo state chapter of National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, requests the state and federal government to beef up security to protect lives and property in view of some reports of security threats in some areas as a result of the lockdown,” it said.

It however tasked the governments to, without wasting time do the needful by providing necessary palliatives to cushion the effect of the lockdown hardship on the people.

“Furthermore, we look forward to government doing the needful for people particularly the poorest of the poor who may find it difficult to feed at this period of lockdown caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.”
