Legendary singer, Sir Victor Uwaifo, is dead.
He was 80 years old.
News of his death was broken by his nephew, Uwaifo Peter The Rock, on his Facebook wall on Saturday.
The post reads: “Daddy whyyyyyyyyyy. Did you leave us now
“Prof sir Victor UWAIFO has gone to rest
“Black Saturday for me nooow
“One week now after collaborating with me
“He died of…. chest infection which affected his lungs thereby leading to difficultness in breathing.”
Born on March 1, 1941, Uwaifo was a Nigerian musician, writer, sculptor, and musical instrument inventor.
Popular referred to as “Guitar Boy”, he was also a university lecturer, music legend, and the first Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism in Nigeria.
Some of his albums are Big Sound, Victor Uwaifo, and Hold Your Romeo.
