Lagos State University of Education, LASUED, is set for the matriculation of its pioneer students, having taken them through an orientation programme.
Ahead of the matriculation scheduled to hold on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at the main campus, Oto-Ijanikin, Lagos State, the students have been given the necessary orientation.
The exercise is to familiarise the students with the academic procedure of the university.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, in her address welcome and congratulated the pioneer students for the hard work that gave them quality grades that earned them a place in the university.
Lafiaji-Okuneye stated how the prestigious university was established by the Lagos State government on February 2, 2022 in order to address the issue of education inequality among citizens in the state.
According to her, the students got their admissions in an increasingly competitive academic environment.
The orientation is meant to familiarize the students with the university programmes, rules, regulations, rule of life and setting goals to chart a course for their future.
The programme also gave them the opportunity to learn new things, acquire new knowledge, develop new skills and enhance personal attributes in profound ways that will shape their character for the rest of their lives.
The orientation is also meant to acquaint the students with all the information they need to enable them adjust to university life and guide them to set their academic goals for the next four years.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor advised the students to be wise, shun cultism, bad friends and immoral behaviour, but to seize the opportunity of their admission to weave new friendship that will impact their lives positively in and outside the university.
She urged them to learn fast how to navigate the tricky terrain and dodge the many conflicts and distractions that might come their way.
She wished the pioneer students success, promising that they would have a fruitful experience and a solid foundation for their future.
