The National Universities Commission, NUC, has approved 66 out of the 67 proposed programmes presented for take off in the new university, Lagos State University of Education, LASUED.
The approval follows the resource verification exercise carried out by the NUC, at Ijanikin and Epe campuses of LASUED.

According to LAUSE in a statement issued by its spokesman, Mr. Damilola Sanni, Civic Education is the only programme not approved as the NUC does not have the Benchmark Minimum Academic Standard, BMAS, for it at the moment.
On Wednesday, February 2, 2022, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, signed into law the two bills upgrading the former Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, MOCPED, Noforija, Epe, and Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, AOCOED, to Lagos State University of Education, LASUED, and the former Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, into Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH.
Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, led a high powered Lagos State delegation to receive the certificates of recognition for the two universities from the National Universities Commission, NUC.
The development increased the state universities to three in order to cater for the university education needs of teeming youths.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye on behalf of the Chairman, Governing Council, Management and the entire Staff of the Lagos State University of Education, LASUED, expressed profound gratitude to Mr Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the Speaker and Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly and very importantly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Barrister Tokunbo Wahab, for the laudable feat.
Also, the Acting Vice Chancellor extended appreciation to the chairman and members of the House Committee on Tertiary Institution, Clerk of the House, Members of the Secretariat of the House Committee on Tertiary Education, Majority Leader and chairman of committee, LAHA, royal fathers and their cabinets in Badagry and Epe division and the past chairmen and members of the Governing Council, MOCPED and AOCOED.
Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye further expressd appreciation to leadership and members of MOCPED and AOCOED staff unions, Tertiary Education Trust fund, TETfund; Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB; National Universities Commission, NUC; Director, Bill Drafting Committee, Ministry of Justice; Commissioner for Education; Alumni of MOCPED and AOCOED; host communities, and past chairmen and members of governing councils of MOCPED and AOCOED.

The management team headed by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye hosted the NUC resource verification team for appraisal of programmes and personnel in the institution.
In his reaction, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Associate Professor Nosiru Olajide Onibon, chairman, NUC verification committee expressed appreciation and commended staff members for their efforts and cooperation in the preparation which led to the successful verification exercise.
The Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor said he specially appreciated the efforts and vigour with which members of the NUC verification committee worked, having sleepless nights in preparing for the NUC verification.
Onibon congratulated the Acting Vice Chancellor, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, other members of the management team, Deans and Head of Departments, and the entire members of the university community on the great achievement.
Onibon then enjoined them to continue to put in their best, saying all their efforts would not be in vain.
He admonished them to put in more sacrifice in order to ensure more success for the institution.
The institution has announced that the admission into 100 Level for 2022/2023 academic session has commenced and the cut off mark is 150.
