The Lagos State government has removed illegal structures along Makanjuola Street in Iju-Ishaga as part of its ongoing environmental enforcement exercise.

The exercise was announced in a statement posted on the official X handle of the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, on Thursday.

According to the statement, the operation is aimed at enforcing environmental regulations, protecting public infrastructure and promoting a cleaner, safer and more orderly environment.

It stated that the exercise targeted structures illegally erected on public spaces, which obstructed access, contributed to environmental degradation and hindered effective sanitation and drainage management.

The statement added that the enforcement exercise formed part of the state government’s commitment to preserving public infrastructure, improving environmental sanitation and maintaining order across communities.

It urged residents and property owners to comply with environmental laws and refrain from encroaching on public spaces, warning that similar enforcement operations would continue across the state.
