Lagos PR conference to address leadership, poverty eradication

The Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, has announced that its ninth Public Relations Stakeholders Conference will hold on August 18, 2022 at the MUSON Centre in Lagos.

The conference which will focus on Leadership and Poverty Eradication is to be held in collaboration with Addefort Limited.

The conference is said to be a bridge-building initiative to interact and proffer solutions to the social, political and economic challenges plaguing the nation.

The conference which has as its theme, “Conversations on Leadership and Poverty Eradication,” is expected to feature distinguished speakers including the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Founder and Chairman, Heirs Holdings, Mr Tony Elumelu; Executive Vice Chairman/ CEO, Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta; DG Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Mr Segun Ajayi-Kadir; Managing Director, Bank of Industry, Mr Kayode Pitan; Executive Secretary, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Tejumola Abisoye; Commissioner of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Lagos State, Hon Cecilia Bolaji Dada, and Economist and Consultant, University of Lagos, Dr. Oluseye Ajuwon.

Speaking on the conference, the Chairman, Lagos NIPR, Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo, explained that the theme for this year’s edition was timely, adding that the institute was committed to setting agenda for stakeholders engagement and lead the discussion to reawaken national consciousness.

She noted that eradicating poverty in all its forms remained one of the greatest challenges facing humanity, with Nigeria not being an exemption.

She said despite the efforts of government in the country, too many were still struggling for the most basic human needs.

According to Mr Olabamiji Adeleye, Conference Coordinator and Lead Consultant, Addefort Limited, participants at the conference would include representatives from government, Public Relations practitioners, economic experts, the United Nations, embassies, corporate organisations, institutions, NGOs, HODs of relevant agencies, and the media among other stakeholders.
