Suspected cult memebrs arrested in Lagos

No fewer than eight suspected cult members have been arrested in Lagos by the operatives of the Operation Crush of the Anti-cultism Unit of the Nigeria Police Force.

The suspects arrested at different areas of the state will soon be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations.

The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, made this known in a statement issued on Sunday.

Elkana reported that on June 26, 2019 at about 8.00 a.m. operatives from Bariga Police Station arrested one Ifeoluwa Dodo ‘m’, 19 years old, suspected to be  strong member of Aiye confraternity at Odo-Eran Street, Bariga.

The suspect is said to have been on the wanted list of the police for the murder of one Ojo Taiwo in February, 2019 at Bariga.

The police said he escaped after leading eight other members of his cult to carry out the murder.

Five members of his gang were said to have been initially arrested and charged to court for murder.

On the same date at about 5.30 p.m. the operatives were said to have arrested one Kunle Oyediran ‘m’ 24 years of Ifelodun Street Bariga with two other members of his gang as well.

The cult members arrested were said to be responsible for series of violent attacks and robberies in Bariga.

The police said the suspects would be charged to court.

In the same vein, the police, on June 27, 2019 at about  2.14 p.m. acting on a tipoff arrested one Peter Ejovwoke ‘m’ 26 years old of Ughelli North, Delta State at Ago Hausa Street  Ajeromi, Ajegunle.

Two baretta pistols with three rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.

Also, on June 28, 2019 at about 2.30 p.m. the operatives also arrested one Azeez Ojora Ajayi, popularly known as  Alaje ‘m’ 37 years old of Apapa.

Two baretta pistols with four ammunitions were recovered from him, the police also said.

Investigation was said to be ongoing.

At about 6.30 p.m.  on June 28, 2019 too, the police, acting on a tip off that members of Aiye and Eiye confraternities were regrouping to unleash mayhem on each other and unsuspecting members of the public at Ketu and it’s environs, apprehended suspected cult members: Olaiya Tosin  ‘m’ and kazeem  Adeyanju  ‘m’.

One locally made gun, a battle axe, one arrow and charms were recovered from them.

They were said to have confessed to being leaders of Aiye and Eiye confraternities mobilising their members for a clash of supremacy.

Also, investigation was said to be ongoing.
