Katsina: Buhari visits IDPs camp, promises govt will counter banditry

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday sympathised with Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Katsina State, stressing that his government would do everything to counter banditry and insurgency in the country.

Buhari who was in his state for Eid-el-Kabir said he was at the camp which houses victims of banditry from Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Jibiya, Sabuwa, Faskari and Dandume local government areas, to sympathise with them.

According to him, the people in the IDPs deserved not only the sympathy of the government, but all well-meaning Nigerians.

His words: “I am here to sympathize with the entire people of the state over the unfortunate incidents that have been claiming lives of innocent people…

“Islam did not give individuals the right to kill others without following due process in the court of law.

“The Federal and states government will do everything possible to eradicate all forms of insecurity in the nation as soldiers and police have been given all the necessary support by the government.

“We are doing our best to checkmate the activities of armed bandits and insurgents in the country.”

The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir, who spoke on the occasion urged the people of the state to always volunteer information about bandits to their traditional rulers and security agencies.

According to him, that was how banditry would be best tackled and overcome.
