There is a fire outbreak at a four-storey building at 5 Gbajumo Street, Balogun Market, Lagos Island.

The building is said to be largely occupied by traders in clothes and shoes.

According to reports from the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, made available to FrontPage, although the fire had been confined to the building as a result of efforts of fire fighters, accessibility to the source of the inferno was still very difficult.

The fire was said to have started at about 12.45 a.m. of Thursday, and following the efforts of fire fighters from the federal and state stations, it was put out at about 3.00 a.m.

It was reported that while dampening was ongoing, the fire, however, started again at about 6.00 a.m.

Report from NEMA indicated that although the fire had been prevented from spreading to other buildings, getting to the source had proved difficult.

No injury or death was said to have been noticed so far.

Efforts were said to be on to put out the fire.
