The Association of African Traditional Religion of Nigeria and Overseas, AATREN, has urged adherents and other citizens to use the opportunity of Isese Day celebration to offer  prayers for Nigeria.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, AATREN’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Lekan Ajirotutu, said that citizens should pray for the country’s peace, unity, stability and economic advancement.

He spoke with NAN on Wednesday in Lagos.

Ajirotutu said that fervent prayers would help Nigeria to overcome security, economic and other challenges.

Isese Day is celebrated every August 20.

Some states, including Lagos, Oyo, Ogun and Osun have declared Thursday work-free or public holiday  to celebrate Isese Day to promote religious inclusivity and cultural tourism.

Ajirotutu cultural values and identity served as binding forces for societal peace and harmony.

He pledged that African traditional worshippers would stand by the administration of President Bola Tinubu and sustain prayers for the success of his leadership and the overall progress of Nigeria.

Ajirotutu said that Isese Day celebration was aimed at maintaining African traditional worshippers’ identities, adding that Africa had known God before the advent of Christianity and Islam.

The official said that the association would organise a seminar in Lagos on Thursday to enlighten the residents  about African traditional religion.

Ajirotutu urged Africans, especially Nigerians, not to be afraid to participate in traditional activities.
