The International Press Centre, IPC, will on Thursday, hold the public presentation of a publication “Question Marks on the 6th NBC Code Amendments.”
The presentation which will start at 11.00 p.m. will hold at the Conference Hall of the International Press Centre, IPC, Dideolu Estate, Ogba, Lagos-Nigeria.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Executive Director of IPC, Mr. Lanre Arogundade.
The publication, according to him, is a compendium of the views of a Consortium of Independent Broadcasters and Free Press Advocates on the contentious ammendments.
He also described it as a major response to what was perceived as a grand design by the authorities to stifle the broadcast media in Nigeria considered to be profoundly germane to the nation’s democracy, particularly for the grassroots.
The publication, the ICP boss, explained was especially intended to enhance a deeper understanding of the issues at stake on the recent amendments to the 6th Edition of NBC Code.
He added: “It will equally serve as an advocacy tool against the arbitrariness and draconian tendencies of the
National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).”
The launch is expected to be attended by media and communication practitioners; media scholars, media organisations, media unions and other key stakeholders.
