Gunshots were fired by security operatives at Ikoyi Correctional Centre in Lagos at about midday amidst fear of jailbreak.
Heavy smoke was seen around the correctional centre giving the impression that it might have been set on fire.
Security agents said to be made up of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Correctional Service were said to be firing in different directions.
It would be recalled that about three days ago, the correctional centre in Benin witnessed a jailbreak leaving hundreds of prisoners to escape.
Only yesterday, some properties across the state were burnt by hoodlums who were said to have hijacked the EndSARS protest in Lagos.
Their actions followed the shooting of protesters by soldiers at the Lekki Toll Gate area on Tuesday.
